Cabernet Sauvignon 54%; Petit Verdot 39%; Syrah 5%; Cabernet Franc 2% The Keermont Companion Red is a blend of a handful of barrels that were left over after we had made up our Keermont wines for 2021. The components are in no way inferior to the components of the Keermont range, we simply had more barrels of them than were required. Interestingly, the combination has resulted in a very complete, balanced, and delicious wine.VINIFICATION
All grapes used in producing our wines are grown on Keermont Vineyards. Most of the vineyard parcels grow on deep red clay rich soil derived from sandstone and granite and are surrounded by indigenous ‘fynbos’ vegetation. Our vineyards are planted on steep mid-slopes high up in the valley between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges. Aspects vary from North East through North to West facing between 250 and 400 meters above sea level. Small batches of grapes are specifically selected according to ripeness, harvested by hand and vinified separately. This process is carried out gently and naturally in open top fermenters using traditional methods only. This wine spent 22 months maturing in seasoned French oak barriques before being bottled by hand without filtration on 27/4/23. 1385 bottles were produced.TASTING NOTE
Dark ruby red in colour, this vintage has a bouquet of red berry fruit, cassis, dustiness, and a hint of black pepper. The pallet is fine and structured. The tannins are firm, while the natural acidity keeps the ripe fruit in check. Notes of red fruit, cocoa and cloves linger into a long focussed finish. Best drinking:2026-2030.ANALYSIS

2021 will be remembered as an excellent vintage at Keermont. Weather conditions were very favourable beginning with a good wet winter and spring through a very moderate growing season to a late cool and dry harvest. These factors, combined with a lot of hard work in the vineyards led to the development of a healthy, evenly ripened crop. Although our yields per hectare were not particularly high, the quality was very exciting. Grapes came in looking and tasting great with very good acidity and sugar levels. Picking and processing ran really smoothly thanks to lessons learned in previous vintages as well as a massive effort from the picking and winery teams. The Keermont winery crushed a total of 80 tons all sourced from our own vineyards. -

100% Mourvèdre The Keermont 4 Barrels Rosé 2025 is a barrel fermented Mourvèdre rosé. The Mourvèdre grows high up in the Steepside vineyard on the North facing slopes of the Helderberg. The low yields give us the fruit intensity that we are looking for to make a high quality, complex rosé. Winemaking: The batches are harvested early (before they are very ripe) for freshness in the wine. The grapes are left on the skins for about an hour to draw just the right amount of colour before being basket pressed. The juice is fermented in seasoned French oak barrels and left to settle for about 6 months before being bottled by hand. Total of 1100 bottles and 50 Magnums produced. TASTING NOTE Pale onion skin pink in colour, this wine has powerful aromas of ripe strawberry, litchi, pear, and watermelon with a light herbal note. The palate is soft and textured, but a fresh acidity and mineral element add weight. Beautiful tropical and stone fruit flavours are complimented by vanilla undertones to give the wine a lovely long finish. Drink now, but will last for 5 years at least. Weather conditions were generally favourable, and the harvested grape quality and analysis looked excellent. -
Terrasse is our barrel fermented white blend which derives its name from the terraced vineyards leading up the mountains on the estate. We have six different white wine varieties planted on these terraces and every year we make up a unique blend depending on what the year gives us. The core component is Chenin blanc from our dryland bush vine Bobbejaan Wingerd (Baboon Vineyard), and the trellised Low Road vineyard. The other varieties add complexity to the aromas, flavour, and texture. Chardonnay gives a little more weight on the palate, Sauvignon blanc from our dryland vineyard ‘Uitkyk’ (planted in 1988) brings fresh acidity, and the drops of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier give a slight spicy, aromatic lift. Small batches of grapes are selected according to ripeness, harvested by hand and vinified separately. White wines are fermented by indigenous yeast in seasoned French oak barrels and then spend a further 12 months maturing on the lees. Bottling is carried out by hand with minimal fining or filtration.TASTING NOTE
The Terrasse 2024 has a light green gold colour. The nose is inviting with notes of vanilla, nuts, citrus blossom, and rye. The palate is soft and effortless on entry, but soon opens up with lovely fresh acidity and an array of flavours: ripe apricot, peach and quince flavours complimented by richer more spicy savoury fruit. This follows into a lingering sweet-sour aftertaste with a light phenolic grip. A thin line of salty acidity and gentle leesy mouthfeel give the wine a lingering succulent finish. 2024 will be remembered as a good vintage on Keermont, although yields were generally very low resulting in a small crop. We had a very cold and wet winter resulting in substantial flooding in the Cape. Fortunately, we didn’t sustain too much damage and the conditions were actually very beneficial to the vineyards. The cool, wet weather led to slow budding. The young shoots are suspectable to attack over this period and damage can be caused by snails, Duiker (small buck), and baboons. Spring warmed up and the vines started to grow strongly. We had good rain showers during the early season to keep the vineyards going, although may have affected flowering leading to lighter bunches. The middle of the season dried up and, from Christmas onwards, we experience several heatwaves. This dried the vineyards out quickly and led to some sunburn on exposed bunches. The light crop ripened quickly under the warm conditions and we started harvesting early (23 January). We quickly progressed through the different varieties and by the end of February, all of the grapes had been harvested except for the dried grapes for Fleurfontein. Yields were down by about 30% on average, but despite fairly tough conditions in the late season, the vineyards looked healthy and balanced throughout the vintage. The grapes tasted amazing and had good analysis and I expect that we are going to have some beautifully intense wines.BLOCKS

Keermont Vineyards is a specialist wine estate set in the naturally-formed amphitheatre between the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain ranges. All grapes used in producing our wines are grown on Keermont Vineyards. Most of the vineyard parcels grow on deep red clay rich soil derived from sandstone and granite and are surrounded by indigenous vegetation. They lie between 250 and 400 metres above sea level at the top of the valley between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges and have a variety of aspects from North East to West facing. Our two Merlot vineyards are High Road with heavier clay and more rocky soils (altitude 330m) and Homestead with lighter loamy soil (altitude 260m). The wines from High Road are generally more dense and concentrated and from Homestead slightly lighter and more elegant. Small batches of grapes are specifically selected according to ripeness, harvested by hand and vinified separately. This process is carried out gently with minimal intervention in open top fermenters using traditional methods only. This wine spent 19 months maturing in seasoned French oak barrels before being bottled by hand without fining and only light filtration on 3 October 2023. A total of 10269 bottles and 50 magnums were produced.TASTING NOTE
The Keermont Merlot 2022 has a classic venetian red colour. Enticing spicy red fruit on the nose with hints of tea leaf, dried herbs, dust and mixed berries. Classical elegant, fruitful palate with dark plums, cherries and some smokey notes. Fine tight tannins and fresh acidity hold the wine into a long savoury finish. 2022 will go down as a very successful and plentiful vintage at Keermont. On paper it was a vintage of two halves. The first half of the season was very cool and wet. We recorded the wettest winter since starting to farm Keermont Vineyards in 2005! These conditions led to good growth in the early season and we had to work hard to keep up with the strong growth. By Christmas time we could see that we had a lovely looking crop of grapes ripening on the healthy green vines. After Christmas the weather changed completely and we had a hot and dry run into harvest. The grapes, which we thought were going to be harvested late, ripened quickly under the healthy conditions. Harvest started on 1 February and quickly picked up tempo and before long we were going flat out picking grapes and processing in the cellar. The vineyards consistently delivered good yields and the winery tanks filled up fast. We pressed our biggest vintage ever in the Keermont Winery: just over 90 tonnes of healthy, estate grown fruit!BLOCKS

KEERMONT SYRAH is a blend of three different Syrah vineyard sites growing on Keermont Vineyards: Steepside Syrah: Growing on a North facing slope in deep, red clay-rich soils; this vineyard generally produces softer full bodied wines with rich, spicy flavours. Topside Syrah: An unirrigated west facing vineyard planted at 400m above sea level on rocky sandstone-based soil. Topside Syrah is usually an aromatic wine with a solid structure and high natural acid. Sweetwater Syrah: Situated in a rocky valley below the Fleurfontein spring, this is the coolest of the three Syrah sites and ripens the latest. Sweetwater Syrah is normally lighter and elegant in style with a herbal aroma.VINIFICATION
All grapes used in producing our wines are grown on Keermont Vineyards. Small parcels of grapes are specifically selected according to ripeness, harvested by hand and vinified separately. Grapes are fermented ‘whole-berry’, with 15 % ‘whole-bunch’, and receive one or two gentle punch-downs per day. This wine spent 19 months maturing in seasoned 500 and 225 Litre French oak barrels before being bottled by hand on 21 October 2022. We produced 7867 bottles and 100 magnums.TASTING NOTE
Keermont Syrah 2021 has a bright red colour with a lighter hue. The bouquet is enticing with strawberries and other red fruit and notes of sandal wood, tea leaf, cloves, and orange rind. The wine has a gentle entry onto the palate. It opens up with vibrant flavours cherry and raspberry complimented by savoury spice and a herbal note. A velvety, but tight tannin structure and good natural acid keep the flavours focussed into a tidy succulent finish. Drink 2026-2036.VINTAGE REPORT

The Many Hands Syrah is a collaboration with our dedicated vineyard and cellar team - from planting the vines, to production, to bottling and labelling. Many hands working together.
The grapes for this wine were selected and vinified, by Shane De Vries, the team lead. The Many Hands are Asanda, Bonga, Cecil, Farieda, Lizzie, Matt and Simon.
Small parcels of grapes from the Sweetwater block were specifically selected according to ripeness, harvested by hand and vinified separately. This process was carried out gently and naturally in open top wooden barrels. 50% of the fruit was fermented ‘whole bunch’. This wine spent 11 months maturing in a seasoned 300 Litre French oak barrel before being bottled by hand. We produced 399 bottles.

Keermont Cabernet Sauvignon grows in our Cottage Lane vineyard on the mid-slopes of the Helderberg Mountain. This vineyard is situated on the crest of a ridge at 320m above sea level. It has aspects ranging from East through North to West and is very exposed, resulting in small, tight bunches and low yields. This has allowed us to make a relatively fine-grained Cabernet, while the clay soils translate to a wine with power, tension and fresh acidity. We blend in a couple of barrels of other varieties to add to the complexity of flavour and tannin structure. All grapes used in producing our wines are grown on Keermont Vineyards. (375ml) The KEERMONT FLEURFONTEIN (‘flower fountain’) derives its name from a beautiful spring on the farm. The Sauvignon blanc vineyard from which grapes are sourced for this wine lies just below this spring. We use a distinctive technique to produce raisins in the vineyard which give the Fleurfontein its concentration and sweetness. Raisins are produced by using a pair of pliers to pinch the stem of the bunches while they ripen on the vine. This pinching action stops the translocation of fluids into and out of the grapes, which then stops them from becoming over ripe. We do this when the grapes are at optimal ripeness in order to concentrate the juice with the perfect sugar to acid balance. The grapes dry out naturally during the warm summer and are harvested a few weeks later. The syrupy juice is squeezed from them with a hard pressing process. This is slowly fermented by indigenous yeast in Hungarian and French oak barrels and then matures in these barrels for about 15 months. Total production for this bottling was seven barrels yielding 3453 half bottles. All grapes used in producing this wine were grown on Keermont Vineyards. Processing, maturation, and bottling were carried out by hand in our cellar.TASTING NOTE
Deep gold in colour, the Fleurfontein 2025 exudes aromas of dried apricot, litchi, and pineapple with hints of almond, vanilla and sweet spice. The palate is full and creamy with concentrated flavours of dried fruit, honey, vanilla biscuit and a touch of curry spice. A central core of acidity gives the wine a long, complex, salted caramel finish. Drink now through to 2036.VINTAGE REPORT
2025 will be regarded as a good, if not great, vintage. Weather conditions were generally favourable, and the harvested grape quality and analysis looked excellent. The vines grew strongly during the spring, following a very wet winter. The growing season was moderate with a couple of heat spikes around veraison, when the grapes begin to ripen. Yields were healthy, but not particularly high and this resulted in great concentration and structure in the wines.BLOCKS

100% Mourvèdre The Keermont 4 Barrels Rosé 2025 is a barrel fermented Mourvèdre rosé. The Mourvèdre grows high up in the Steepside vineyard on the North facing slopes of the Helderberg. The low yields give us the fruit intensity that we are looking for to make a high quality, complex rosé. Winemaking: The batches are harvested early (before they are very ripe) for freshness in the wine. The grapes are left on the skins for about an hour to draw just the right amount of colour before being basket pressed. The juice is fermented in seasoned French oak barrels and left to settle for about 6 months before being bottled by hand. Total of 1100 bottles and 50 Magnums produced. TASTING NOTE Pale onion skin pink in colour, this wine has powerful aromas of ripe strawberry, litchi, pear, and watermelon with a light herbal note. The palate is soft and textured, but a fresh acidity and mineral element add weight. Beautiful tropical and stone fruit flavours are complimented by vanilla undertones to give the wine a lovely long finish. Drink now, but will last for 5 years at least. Planted in 2005 on the steep mid-slopes of the Helderberg Mountain range, the Steepside Syrah vineyard sits at an elevation of 300m. Vines grow in red clay loam soils with high levels of iron and quartzite originating from the peaks above. The combination of these deep granitic soils and the intensity of the sunshine on the North facing ridge allows the vineyard to produce wines with power and structure, while the spicy herbal aromatics can be attributed to the elevation and the pristine fynbos flora that surround it. All grapes used in producing this wine come from our Steepside 2 Syrah block (1.3Ha). A small parcel of grapes was specifically selected, harvested by hand and vinified separately. Fermentation was carried out by yeast which occur naturally on the grape skins and in the winery. Our red wines spend three to four weeks fermenting and macerating on the skins in small open top tanks (30% whole bunch) with one or two gentle ‘punch-downs’ performed per day. This wine spent 21 months maturing in seasoned 500L French oak barrels before being bottled by hand and only 2516 bottles and 50 magnums were produced.TASTING NOTE
Lighter, bright red in colour the Steepside Syrah has expressive sweet red fruit character on the nose with hints of cloves and fynbos. The entry onto the palate is soft and silky and effortless. Ripe plum and strawberry fruit flavours are contrasted by a hint of herbs and vanilla. The delicate flavours and tannin linger into a succulent dry finish. Winter temperatures at the start of the 2020 vintage were moderate with below average rainfall. Fortunately, we had a wet spring which prompted the vines to grow strongly and develop a decent size crop. Early season was marked by fairly erratic temperatures with several heat spikes. These factors made farming quite tough with increased pressure from disease and insects and the vineyard team worked hard to prepare a good looking crop. Mid-summer temperatures were fairly moderate although we did experience a short heat wave in January. This was followed by a gale force South East wind which hammered the vineyards. This resulted in the grapes ripening quickly and, although we started picking at a fairly normal time, by 10 March we had picked all of the grapes for our wines.ANALYSIS
